I loved it,great movie i usualy only watch horror and killing and brutal slashers and guts and gore but this is definitaly a movie im gonna buy great job on this movie.

This movie sucked. Every hollywood cliche you can imagine...

I am old enough to have been around and aware when the first movie, starring Charlton Heston, premiered. But I didn't watch my first POTA movie til the Mark Wahlberg-starring remake. Still, I was lukewarm. But this installment has made everything make sense, and has made me care. Good movie. Yes, wonderful special effects. But the central ape character, Caesar, is noble, tragic, and compelling, I agree, that this movie stands on its own, apart from the others in the series. Very good performances from James Franco and John Lithgow, as well.

This movie is full of heart and action which is hard to do in films.

Good movie, what a nice surprise from a summer blockbuster, to actually be intelligent and emotionally provocative. Good acting, especially by Andy Serkis who plays the ape in motion capture. I'm a fan of the oppressive, pessimistic 1968 original with Charleton Heston to which this new episode pays tribute, though this time the apes are C.G. animated. The central relationship is between a scientist working for a cure for Alzheimer's and the offspring of a lab test ape that he raises as his own. The movie brings evolution into the home setting--literally.

Like so many before it, “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” romanticizes the human/animal relationship. However, it does make a serious attempt at tackling the controversial issue of pharmaceutical safety vs. lab animal testing. It is a thought-provoking film, with the added bonus of being a visual delight.
