Add a CommentLoved all the gore. David Tennant was brilliant (as always) as Peter Vincent. Makes me want to see the original Fright Night now!
It was horrible. Except for Colin Farrell and David Tennant, the movie itself was terrible. The characters had no chemistry, the story was weak and the blood was too CGI for my liking.
Very fun --yummy vampire scarefest!
Amazing movie. Love Colin Farrell
horror/monster-real cool vanpires, good scene movement, good acting
ok i guess
Back in the 80's I saw Fright Night when it was out in the theatre. Great movie with a good mixture of camp and horror. This remake pretty much dispenses with any campiness and is more a psychological horror movie. Jerry the vampire doesn't crack too many one liners, so instead a figure of fun as in the original, this Jerry is very much a monster. The victims of the vampire are more than just cannon fodder and even though you may have only seen a brief mention of them, you care about them. Particularly when Doris was attacked. That scene broke my heart. Oh, and I should also mention that there was a lot of tension in this movie and some genuinely good scares. Highly recommended and I would actually consider putting this on my list to buy at Amazon.
1 of the worst movies I've ever seen in my entire life. Acting was horrible in the movie and don't waste your time watching this movie!
Being a fan of the late 80's campy original, I was afraid that this remake would fall short. Although the graphics are terrible, the atmosphere is moody, yet humorous. This is a good role for Anton Yelchin, his wit and sarcasm gives the character of 'Charley Brewster' a new 2011 look. I wasn't impressed with the new 'Peter Vincent,' though Colin Farrell is great as the sexy vampire next door 'Jerry'. It won't ever capture the essence of an 80's horror film, but I was entertained none-the-less.
I saw the original. That having been said, this is a remake that manages to be a fit with the current environment. Even if it does so quickly, it gets what the deal is with a young man who has moved on from being a nerd, the pain and anger that can result, the need to see your friends as holding you back, and it dispatches this agenda in an efficient manner, so as to be able to get on with the narrative. Colin Farrell does deadly but attractive, i.e., "Jerry" quite well. In this I waa not surprised at all, as I have seen some quite nice performances from this actor in the last year or so. David Tennant, late of "Doctor Who" and Shakespeare's Hamlet, does a good job of being the man that Charlie could become if he doesn't manage this challenge. Anton Yelchin manages the boy-man aspects of his character with aplomb. If you haven't seen the original, or even if you have, but have a respect for this genre, well, this one has its rewards.
