Notices
Add a NoticeFrightening or Intense Scenes: humans being consumed, persons being crushed, meat locker effect
Other: Why is this category even here? What could possibly be in here that doesn't fit into the above groups? Really extreme violence? Absurd language? Obscene sexual content? I mean really, what's up with this 'Other' category, it's kinda out of place?
Frightening or Intense Scenes: Pretty much any alien movie is gonna be scary. Given fact.
Violence: Trains blow up, houses blow up, cars are smashed, and property is damaged. Not to a Micheal Bay level, but still a good amount.
Coarse Language: One F word and many S words. it's a PG-13 film though, but nothing over the top for a PG-13 movie.
Quotes

Joe Lamb (speaking of his deceased mother): "She used to look at me... this way, like really look... and I just knew I was there... that I existed."

Add a CommentReally cool movie. A throw back to the adventure films of the 80's really. Reminded me a bit of the Goonies crossed with a monster-of-the-week flick. Some cool guest stars play minor characters and the main kids have good chemistry. A fun watch for sure.
More imagination and better acting than many of its ilk. Kyle Chandler, Elle Fanning and the young male lead are pitch-perfect.
The train crash scene is the best of the movie. The rest not so interesting and is too slow.
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I felt writer/director J.J. Abrams knocked it out of the park (Spielberg's input didn't hurt either...). The storyline held my interest, the characters were all likable. And sure, it's undoubtedly influenced by past films, (Goonies, Aliens, etc.), but... so what? I still enjoyed it. 13 year old Elle Fanning (Alice) definitely secured some future gigs after her performance here. The attention to detail for 1979 was spot on. Sweet 'first love' story, with a side of alien. FIVE STARS.
Spielberg through the meat grinder for none-too-bright kids. Stupid plot devices. Kids see train crash into truck. Train explodes all over the place but the truck & driver survive and the kids drive their car out of the rubble and wake up the next day with sparkling clean faces. Oi vey!
Great movie. A must see
One of the best films I have seen in this year. It was entertaining and interesting. Great performances a must see for all. “Truly a really great movie worth the long library wait or the price to rent from a Red Box”. A++ DVD
i am sorry what are u again ???
Awesome!
I agree with dijolly, somehow I just lost interest in this movie..it is definitely NOT "The Year's Most Thrilling Movie!"
