Summary
Add a SummaryOkay, the book was excellent it gave a whole bunch of description and adventure but most of all trust and I have to say that I love this book !
Calla is the leader of the Nighshades, one of the two wolf packs in town. Her destiny has always been to mate with Ren, the leader of the Bane pack, and she has always been preparing for mating. Ren has always been the carefree one. Though an obvious alpha leader, he bends the rules and doesn't take them so seriously. Calla and Ren have never been close, but knowing the date of their wedding is approaching, they both try and make an effort to get to know one another. They start hanging out after school and realize they have more than just a destiny together or an instant attraction. Then on a routine patrol on Nightshade territory, Calla saves Shay, the new boy in town, from a bear attack. Calla doesn't know why she broke the rules for him, but she wants to forget it ever happened. Shay isn't ready to let her go; he soon pushes his way in and becomes a big part of her life. He makes her feel things she's never felt before, like she can become someone other than who she is being forced to be. Now, Calla has her hands full. Does she stay with Ren and learn to love him? Does she risk the loss of her pack and everything she's ever known for Shay? And just who is Shay, and where did he come from?

Add a CommentI knew from the first paragraph that I would love this book. And I do. I loved every page of it, although I'm a little mad at Calla for not staying with Ren. I absolutely adore Ren. This book was very hard to put down. I highly recommend it.
This was my first official wolf story, and I have to say, it didn't disappoint! I actually found it refreshing, aside from the fairy/vampire/otherparanormal stories I've read in the past. It was interesting and well...again, refreshing. The only thing I didn't like would be the whole dynamic of the love triangle, because it didn't seem like Calla was very committed to ONE person until the very end. It seemed like she was truly struggling and I dont really know how thats possible....it wasn't very realistic, her "love". But anyway, it was still pretty good. And I must say I love Ren a whole lot more than Shay :P
I just finished reading the trilogy and you really have to read all 3 books as it is like one big book broken up into 3 parts. It was so good. I am not a teenager so I wasn't as into the teen romance part of it but it was such an enjoyable read. Lots of action and characters you really grow to care about.
An interesting read which had many strong points, such as the characters and the plot. Calla's strength and determination as alpha made for a independent and likeable heroine, who readers will be cheering for. Her friends in her pack and in the other pack were all great characters that added a nice touch to the book. The authour weaves the mystery well, dropping hints here and there until the final cliffhanger at the end. However, the romance between Shay and Calla started too abruptly and progressed a little unrealisticlly. The plot, even though strong, was at times unrealistic and slow, but the general rest made up for it. Even though the ideas have already been done countless times, this book is still worth reading if you enjoy paranormal mystery and romance.
A fun read, but formulaic to say the least. A twisty enough story that is fond of tossing in one surprise after another. First the new human boy that she miraculously saves is much MORE important and special than he seems, then she falls in love with him (well, given her other option is the mate she's been designated to marry, who's a male on the make), then finds out her whole race is subjugated and betrayed. I don't know, that's like a lot of negatives, except for the fact that there's a SECRET society looking to overturn the status quo, so let's see if the next one follows true to template. The author has certainly done a great job in pulling in all the typical plot elements and thrown them all into one series.
Pretty good read. Not a typical YA paranormal book. I'm not a fan of love triangles. I like to know where things stand with the romantic interests. Although Calla shows an attraction to Ren, it comes across as being manipulated and not something of really her choice. As for Shay he has that good guy quality but doesn't seem to roll over easily for Calla. Should be interesting where things lead. I hope the author shows a decisive decision on who Calla chooses. Soon.
All I say is AMAZING! I loved this book! I loved the passion and romance between the love triangle. It really spiced things up all the way to the extreme. The book reminded me of Twilight's New Moon but the romance in this love triangle was so much better and the passion so much more intense. I would reccomend this book to any romance lover. This book had suspense that i could't put it down for an instant. Great story line, great story! :)
This book is sooo good! I love the love triangle <3 I'm team Ren all the wayyy !
