I would kinda have to agree with Ryan Akler-Bishop but not about it been bland but about alot of teenager books and movies are the same, most of them have death and dying and killing and stuff, and really alot of them dont need that, whats your opinoun?

Okay so....slightly repetitive (lawls), and boring for the most part like all Lauren Oliver's stories. Yet, meaningful and fiercely enjoyable. Good for patient people.

Let's start with: I'm a 33 year old stay at home mom. I believe that there are drinking and sexual themes in here that I wouldn't want my son or daughter to read. NOT because it doesn't happen, but I don't need to encourage or condone it. The book itself was fabulous, I could not put it down. BUT, (spoiler alert!): the ending really bothered me. First -- she still dies. What? All that growing to just die? Second, I thought it was selfish to get Kent to fall in love with her, and then just leave him heartbroken. I guess it doesn't matter, because I'm not sure if any of the subsequent days were in anyone else's memories or just Sam's. I just felt very discontent at the end of the novel. There was amazing growth, Sam started to see the world as it really is as opposed to how she wanted it or thought it was. So I'm torn. It's worth the read, I do wish there wasn't so much alcohol involved, but I also realize that's real life. Maybe I will read it with my teenage daughter (when she gets to that age!) so that we can discuss as we go along.

Such a great book! Amazing storyline too! I love the idea of reliving a day over and over, and I'm glad someone decided to write a story about it. =P You really get to see how Sam develops as a person. I personally like the day where she spends the day with Izzi and the day where her and her friends spend the day together (and when her and Kent get closer!!) I like the Cupid Day roses too!

I loved this book. Every day you see Sam develop as a person. I loved the ending. I cry during all books that are at any point sad and I definitely cried during this one. This book has a message and deserves to be read.

We get to know Sam and her friends at the beginning of the story, leading up to a crash that takes Sam's life. You have to be patient as you are introduced to them because they are not likeable at all. Just when you think you've had enough of them, they are in a deadly crash. That's not the end of the story, though, only the beginning. Sam goes into a sort of sleep following the accident and awakens to relive her last day. Will changing something along the way lead to a different result? She tries, and tries again, and again. In fact she gets numerous attempts to "perfect" her last day, hoping she can make the most of her life...and her death if she can't undo the accident. The story line is addicting and suspenseful. and as each "day" passes and Sam begins to get things right, the question that has been looming in the back of your mind since the end of the first chapter--What will happen to Sam?--becomes more and more urgent. My main issue is that the bullying was not... `properly' addressed throughout the book. It's mentioned and there are little things that happen that sort of mock Lindsay and her crew, but there is no overall sense of punishment, and I hate that. Especially for people who are so out and out horrible. I wish that as a final stand Sam had stood up to them a little more strongly and kind of put them in their place other than her random remarks here and there. I also wish there could have been some more time between Sam and Kent, more for him then for her to remember. Oliver is skillful at wielding suspense and heartbreak, making you think hard about the value of your own life and actions. Before I Fall is a haunting and beautiful book. It will float around at the back of your mind long after you've read it.

“I hate both of my parents right now: for sitting quietly in our house, while out in the darkness my heart was beating away all of the seconds of my life, ticking them off one by one until my time was up; for letting the thread between us stretch so far and so thin that the moment it was severed for good they didn’t even feel it.”

The thing is, you don't get to know. It's not like you wake up with a bad feling in your stomach. You don't see shadows where there shouldn't be any. You don't remember to tell your parents that you love them or--in my case-- remember to say good-bye to them at all
